Throughout what I read this time around, Eddie has learned a lot and a lot has also happened. When Eddie was going to meet his next special person in heaven he thought that it would be his father. When he tried to go into the diner and realized that he could go to talk to his dad, the older women, Ruby, had told him that his father doesn't even know that he is there. That turned out to be that that was the next person he was suppose to meet in heaven. Ruby was talking a little about her life story and said many things. She talks about how Ruby pier was named after her because the man at the diner who liked her, turned out to be very wealthy and he was the person that made ruby pier as good as it can be. When one day disaster happened and ruby's husband had lost his park through flames that is also how he lost his death. After explaining his story, Eddie was still confused. He still didn't know how she knew him. She then told him that she always seen him in the diner and on the pier for a very long time since she was the waitress. Then that's when She told Eddie the story about mickey, Eddie's mom and Eddies father. She told him that when Mickey was at Eddie's mother and father house, Mickey almost hurt his mother. Eddie's father had saw what happened started chasing Mickey to possibly try and kill him. Mickey then ends up falling off the pier into the sea and Eddie's father saves his life. After saving his life, Eddie's father, who is in his fifties, ends up catching pneumonia which later kills him. Through her showing him this horrific scene, she wanted him to see that even though mickey did something to Eddie's mother that should have made him get killed, Eddies father ends up saving his life. HE wanted Eddie to learn the lesson of loyalty.

This part of the book showed transcendentalism in some ways. when ruby said "His body had been weakened, the ocean had left him vulnerable, pneumonia took hold of him, and in time, he died." "Because of mickey?" Eddie said, "Because of loyalty" she said. I felt this particular part related to transcendentalism because it is showing how people value other life's because of the affect that that person had throughout their lives rather than just the spur of the moment. Like Eddie's father Could have killed Mickey just because of what happened at that particular moment, But because of What mickey did for them which was give them money, get Eddie's father his job, help the family when needed, Eddie's father ended up being loyal to him still and saving his life.

I wonder if the next person he meet would try and teach him something that also is strongly related to loyalty. I feel that if he learns more about that then he will start to value 5the things that he did in his life, and learn that the things he ha done, all had a purpose. Throughout the whole book so far i really feel like it relates to transcendentalism just because it talks about the value of life and how everybody is connected to each other one way or the other.
